Back to School Haul

Earrings
Hello there beautiful people. Today I started packing for my third year of college and I wanted to share some of my new clothing favorites for back to school. Back to school is a time for goodbye's and hello's to friends and family and... clothes.

August is the perfect time to refresh your look, fill in the gaps in your closet, and get rid of some of the things you no longer wear. I like to do my spring cleaning in the summer, so that when I am going back to school I know exactly what to buy. This outfit is something I recently picked up and each of the pieces are perfect for back to school, and here is why.

Let's start top to bottom.  My hat is super basic; straw with a black ribbon. I have become a huge hat person recently for a mix of reasons. The most apparent reason being, shading my face from the sun. If there is one focus I have had this summer, for myself, it has been skincare, and the first way to take care of your skin is protecting it from the sun. If you're walking to class or spending time outside a hat is the perfect accessory.
Now for my earrings, these are one of my favorite purchases lately. I have always enjoyed how Madewell mixes metals in earrings, and these are nothing short of amazing. I've been wearing them casually with jeans and a t-shirt, but also been wearing them to work where I have to be professionally dressed.

Moving on to my top. This top has stripe and embroidery detail. It has warm, natural color hues which makes it a great top to transition from summer to autumn by layering a heavy cardigan or a utility jacket when the semester starts to get chilly (not yet please).

My canvas backpack is next on our items to chat about, and I could talk about it for hours. This bag has been on my radar for over a year because it is canvas and not leather. I absolutely love my leather goods, but when you're at school you can't help but experience wear and tear. You might get caught in the rain, the snow, you may lay it on the lecture hall floor... it's just inevitable that you're going to damage a leather bag. However, with its leather details, this backpack bag is the perfect balance between style and practicality.

I am all about denim, and when going through denim archive (the 3 drawers I have stuffed with jeans), I came across some jeans that are too small, some to big and concluded that my denim stash needed some updates. So then, I purchased these bad boys, and I haven't taken them off since (kidding)! These have a raw hem and have a straight leg. The shape of these jeans are extremely flattering, and more importantly are sweatpants-level comfortable.

Have a great school year everyone! -Emma xx
